ITIS is produced by a partnership of North American and other agencies and taxonomic specialists, and aims to make available taxonomic information for plants, animals, and microbes found in North America and the rest of the world. Data includes scientific and vernacular names, distribution information and bibliographic references.

2. Inter-Institutional Living Collections Search at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh

RBGE provides a portal to search across some major collections of living plants and conservation databases.

3. Species 2000

Species 2000 aims to create a global checklist of all living organisms, making available scientific and vernacular plant names, including synonyms.

4. w3Tropicos

The Missouri Botanical Gardens w3Tropicos system makes available a variety of data for vascular plants throughout the globe. Centred around plant names, specimens and bibliographic references, it also includes types, synonyms, literature, distribution, vernacular names, and chromosome counts can all be found.

The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is an international non-profit organisation to provide free and universal access to data regarding the world's biodiversity. The GBIF data portal provides access to taxonomic name and specimen data which has been shared via the GBIF data network.
